Tyrol's first "vital sports region" lies in Maurach, Pertisau and Achenkirch, a picturesque area embedded in enchanting mountains around Achensee. The high, snow secure valley offers something for all families and holiday-makers. Skiers and snowboarders have three different ski areas with various levels of piste to try out. Approx. 90 km of cleared hiking trails invite guests to tour through a fascinating winter wonderland. Especially fun for young and old are the toboggan run and ice skating rink, in addition to horse-drawn sleigh rides. Enjoyment and relaxation are also important for the body and soul and offered at Achensee. Fitness programms, health checks, and massages with oil are offered. The small, yet fine resort of Maurach is located at 950 m on the southern shore of Achensee. Snow enjoyment and relaxation are top priorities here. The village's rustic Tyrolean charm is very inviting and many restaurants provide for culinary enjoyment. Especially nice is is close proximity to the ski area. Guests can comfortably reach the Maurach ski area with the Rofan lift. A "flight" with the new sky glider "Airrofan" ensures an adrenaline rush; soar like an eagle over the Gschöllkopf, down 200 m at 85 km/h! Off-piste, guests can relax with sporty activities such as tobogganing, or take part on a romantic winter ride on noble horses. The Notburga art museum is also definitely worth a day trip.
