With 265 kilometres of pistes and 72 lifts, the Grand Massif is the fourth-largest ski area in the French Alps. Located north of Mont Blanc, it encompasses a whole mountainous massif with several ski areas. Due to its close proximity, you can frequently enjoy a fantastic view of the highest mountain in the Alps. The resorts that are part of the Grand Massif couldn't be more contrasting: from the traditional mountain village to the functionally planned ski station; it's all on offer here. Activities such as quad biking on ice or a dog-sled ride ensure that off-piste fun is to be had. Numerous restaurants, bars and discos offer evening entertainment. Flaine – multi-faceted skiing!
The traffic-free winter sports resort Flaine lies at approx. 1,600 m in the Haute Savoie, around 70 km south-east of Geneva. The resort was conceptualised in the 60s by architect Marcel Breuer, and was meant to be integrated into, rather than destroy, the surrounding mountain landscape. The result is three stations at various heights, which are joined by footpaths, two lifts and a shuttle service. The village offers direct access to Flaine's ski area, which boasts more than 140 km of fun on the pistes. Flaine also has a lot more to offer - action lovers can let loose in a car or go-kart on the ice course, or explore the mountain world at a bird's eye view whilst paragliding or during a helicopter flight.
