The Midi-Pyrénées are located in the French part of the Pyrénées, between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. The region is divided into three: the south is characterised by the Pyrénées high moutain range. The north-east and due north belong to the Massif Central's low mountain range. The central and northwestern part of the region is, in contrary, flat. It is defined by the course of the river Garonne and its tributaries, which lead into the Atlantic. The predominantly agrarian-orientated region is highly active in the field aerospace, which has a good standing within Europe.
