Welcome to "Espace Killy", where world champions train and everything revolves around one thing 365 days of the year: skiing! The alpine disciplines in the 1968 and 1992 Winter Olympics took place in the gigantic ski area with more than 300 kilometres of piste and 89 lifts. And in 2009 the region was host to the ski world championship! This 5-star ski area sprawls over three mountains and two valleys, which will make every skier’s heart race. The high altitude (1,550 – 3,456 m) and one of the most attractive glaciers in the Alps guarantee high levels of snow. Tignes - the ski region of superlatives!
Tignes (2,100 m), as we know it today, was built on a nearby treeless high valley at the end of the fifties, after the demise of the "old Tignes” in Lac du Chevril. With the use of wood and natural stone, the Tignes of today has traditional Savoyan charm. Furthermore, the mountain landscape with the huge Vanoise massif and its glaciers, Grande Motte (3,656 m) and Mont Pourri (3,779 m) in the background definitely impress. At the very end of the high valley lies Val Claret with different restaurants and leisure activities, as well as a go-kart track. Le Lac, usually deemed the centre of Tignes offers many ice sport activities on the lake. It is buzzing here with younger people, especially because the après ski and top events like the “Tignes Airwaves” here are immense.

| The "Tignes" lift pass allows access to 150 kilometres of excellently prepared piste, which are well connected through 28 lifts. The ski area has a reputation of being exceptionally snow-sure - not only due to the altitude of the "La Grande Motte" Glacier (3,656 m) - and is a favourite among experts and beginners alike. Beginners can try their first steps at Col du Palet or on the green and blue pistes above Tignes-Le Lac. Demanding skiers will find what they want in the glacier ski area on Grande Motte and in Vallon de la Sache, where they can conquer an altitude difference fo 1,198 m over a stretch of 2.8 km. Safe and controlled deep snow slopes in Vallon de la Sache make the ski area a paradise for free riders and variant skiers, as well. The snow park on the glacier is also a special experience, offering special tables, slides and jumps for newbies, as well as action for intermediates and experts. If you would also like to take advantage of the Val d'Isère ski area, with a further 150 km of piste, we recommend an upgrade to the "Espace Killy" lift pass (see ski region). Both areas are perfectly connected with each other and promise pure fun on the slopes! With booking the lift pass "Espace Killy" you also have the possibility to make use of the swimming pool in the "Lagon" as well as the ice rink in Tignes for free. |
