Berchtesgaden is situated at an altitude of 570 m in the south-eastern part of Upper Bavaria, bordering neighbouring Austria. This resort offers everything necessary for a successful (winter) holiday: a romantic village scenery with two distinguished church towers, a wide variety of sports and leisure time activities, as well as the Watzmann thermals with own galleries to relax after an eventful day. Typical Bavarian cuisine entices with specialities such as roast pork and "krustenhaxen". A definite eye-catcher is the royal palace with palace museum, which surrounds the market square.
