Travel Info Garmisch-Partenkirchen
How does one best travel to Germany? For the Bavarian Alps, the nearest airports are Salzburg and Innsbruck (in Austria) and Munich and Friedrichshafen (in Germany). For the Bavarian Forest, you would best fly to Munich (Germany) or Salzburg (Austria). For Sachsen, Prague (CZ) or Munich are best; for Sauerland, Cologne/Bonn or Dortmund. In Germany, you will often find a train station directly in the resort. If this is not the case, you will see the nearest train stations printed above the map, as well as the distances between airports/train stations and the resort. Those travelling by car will find a route planner to the left at the bottom of the map. Simply enter your starting location and a route will be calculated. Important: please inform yourself beforehand about winter closings of specific mountain passes. Also be sure that your car is winter-proofed and equipped with snow chains. Whether travel by plane to Germany is offered can be confirmed in the booking process. A transfer, if offered, must be booked separately.
