skiing Antholz - downhill and cross-country ski enjoyment!

At the foot of the Plan de Corones (2,275 m), in the centre of the picturesque Val Pusteria, are 14 diverse and attractive South Tyrolean villages. Modern gondolas start from various stations and speed up to the peak, from which imposing 360-degree views unfold. Diverse sporting events take place here on a regular basis, e.g. the Val Pusteria ski marathons including the Valle di Casies run, the biggest sporting event in South Tyrol. 105 kilometres of piste, 31 modern lifts, a half-pipe, as well as ample recreational and sporting opportunities and lively après ski ensure a good deal off piste! This ski resort is also great for families, thanks to numerous facilities such as the "Croniworld". Antholz - downhill and cross-country ski enjoyment!

The four districts of Antholz (1,241 m) stretch into the 18 km long Antholz Valley, a narrow side valley of the Val Pusteria. At the end is Lake Antholz, with the majestic Hochgall (3,435 m) rising over it. The glacier belongs to the Riesenferner Group, which connects the valley with Austria through the "Staller Sattel" Pass. Antholz is known, above all, as a cross-country and biathlon paradise: the annual biathlon world cup is held here, and the 2007 biathlon world championships was held on the local tracks.
Antholz also offers quite a bit to offer alpine skiers and boarders. The blue pistes on "Riepenlift" in Mitter Valley are perfectly suited for beginners and young skiers. Not far from Antholz (approx. 15 minutes) is the Plan de Corones ski area, which complements your ski enjoyment with over 100 kilometres of piste and lovely ski lodges. The ski area is easily and comfortably reached with the free ski bus! In addition to the pistes, the two toboggan runs "Staller Sattel" (5 km long) and "Steinzgeralm" (2.5 km long), as well as the ice skating rink, ensure additional winter fun. Various tours through snowy, fairy-tale landscapes and crunching snow await hiking enthusiasts.

An upgrade to the ski pass "Dolomiti Superski" allows skiing in the most superlative ski areas. The formula is 1+12+1,200: 1 ski pass, 12 ski regions and 1,200 kilometres of piste to enjoy. A particular highlight is the well known "Sella Ronda", the 40 km long circuit run (ski and lift). Excellent free ride opportunities, numerous ski tours, great snow parks and lit pistes for night skiing complement the already first-rate offer. It's all crowned by a plethora of restaurants and lodges where you can enjoy refreshments and the sun. According to experts, the 80 percent sunny days combined with low humidity are exceptional conditions to make powdery snow that lasts. The Dolomites offer, therefore, a particularly high level of snow security. Additionally, the mountain range builds an impressive backdrop and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since June 2009.
