skiing Antholz - downhill and cross-country ski enjoyment!

At the foot of the Plan de Corones (2,275 m), in the centre of the picturesque Val Pusteria, are 14 diverse and attractive South Tyrolean villages. Modern gondolas start from various stations and speed up to the peak, from which imposing 360-degree views unfold. Diverse sporting events take place here on a regular basis, e.g. the Val Pusteria ski marathons including the Valle di Casies run, the biggest sporting event in South Tyrol. 105 kilometres of piste, 31 modern lifts, a half-pipe, as well as ample recreational and sporting opportunities and lively après ski ensure a good deal off piste! This ski resort is also great for families, thanks to numerous facilities such as the "Croniworld". Antholz - downhill and cross-country ski enjoyment!

Antholz (1,241 m) stretches into the 18 km long Antholz Valley, a narrow side valley of the Val Pusteria. At the end is Lake Antholz, with the majestic Hochgall (3,435 m) rising over it. The glacier belongs to the Riesenferner Group, which connects the valley with Austria through the "Staller Sattel" Pass. Antholz is known, above all, as a cross-country and biathlon paradise: the annual biathlon world cup is held here, and the 2007 biathlon world championships was held on the local tracks.
Antholz also offers quite a bit to offer alpine skiers and boarders. The blue pistes on "Riepenlift" in Mitter Valley are perfectly suited for beginners and young skiers. Not far from Antholz (approx. 15 minutes) is the Plan de Corones ski area, which complements your ski enjoyment with over 100 kilometres of piste and lovely ski lodges. The ski area is easily and comfortably reached with the free ski bus! In addition to the pistes, the two toboggan runs "Staller Sattel" (5 km long) and "Steinzgeralm" (2.5 km long), as well as the ice skating rink, ensure additional winter fun. Various tours through snowy, fairy-tale landscapes and crunching snow await hiking enthusiasts.

Cross-country

The Antholz Valley is known well outside the Italian border as a cross-country and biathlon mecca! 60 kilometres of the best prepared tracks in various degrees of difficulty can be found in this idyllic valley, where the biathlon world cup annually takes place. The biathlon world championships have already been held five times, the last time in 2007, in the biathlon stadium "Südtirol Arena", situated near Lake Antholz. The tracks run largely at about 1,600 m and are very snow-sure. The 8 km long high-altitude track at "Staller Sattel" is at a great 2000 m and offers wonderful views of the frozen lake. There are even circuits on the lake, under appropriate weather conditions. Numerous biathlon and cross-country courses are offered for those who would like to learn more about the sport. Plan de Corones has a total of 226 km of marked track for both classic and skating styles. With 42 km, the Valle di Casies track is the region's longest. This is the spot where the annual Valle di Casies run takes place, the largest sporting event in Southern Tyrol and a highlight for all cross-country enthusiasts.
