Ski Area Sierra Nevada
The sun-drenched ski area Sierra Nevada lies just abouve the world famous Andalusian city Granada. The most southern skiing area in Europe is overlooked besides others by Spain's highest mountain, the Mulhacén (3,482 m). 87 km of pistes await you on the mountain sides of the Veleta (3,398 m) as well as 30 modern ski lifts. The hight altitude at 2,100 - 3,320 m guarantees snow from December until April, in times of less percipitation 800 snow making machines help with preparing the pistes. With 40 km of intermediate and 44 km of easy pistes, this ski area is also good for wallowers, which mainly includes the southers Spanish ski fans. These skiers are seldomly found on the pistes before 10 am. In the valley Laguna de las Yegutas there are some intermediate carving pistes and free ride possibilities for deep powder snow lovers. The easiest pistes can be found, amongst other places, on the Plateau Lomo de Dilar. From here you can also access the black pistes used for the World Cup in 1996. These will then take you back to the resort Pradollano, where you will be welcomed by many diverse apres ski opportunities.
