The Julia River flows through the valley of Surses (1200 m), which lies between Tiefencastel and the Julier Mountain Pass and stretches over an area of almost 325 km². The landscape is really diverse; on one side are the rugged mountains and deep gorges, whereas the other side offers wide, prepared pistes, with a total length of over 100 km. You also have the possibility to go hiking, on one of the many winter hiking trails or take part in a guided snow shoe hike! The friendly resort of Bivio is located at an altitude of 1,769 m in the Surses region in the north of the canton of Graubünden. At the foot of Julier and Septimer passes, the village impresses with its varied landscape and language diversity. The official language is Italian, however most residents speak German and Rhaeto-Romanic. The perfect pistes invite you to ski and snowboard, whilst the varied cross-country trails also draw you in. Additionally you can try out diverse snow shoe hiking routes. Bivio is a well-kept insider’s secret but also a real paradise and worth a visit. The neighbouring resorts of Savognin, Silvaplana and the famous St. Moritz are also recommendable!
