Ski area Hochfügen-Hochzillertal/Spieljoch

With the "Zillertal Superskipass" you have the choice between 542 kilometres of slopes in the Zillertal Arena, at the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen, in the Ski & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000, in the Hochzillertal - Hochfügen - Spieljoch ski area as well as the Wildkogel Arena in Bramberg. The ski areas are connected in an exemplary manner via a free bus and train shuttle. In addition, thanks to the well-developed ski bus network, you can get to the popular Hochzillertal-Hochfügen and Spieljoch ski areas from all towns in the First Holiday Region in the Zillertal. For a few years now, the Zillertal Arena has been offering free Wi-Fi in its ski areas! So you can not only glide over the white splendour and enjoy the sun, but also share the latest experiences and highlights directly with your loved ones at home (see ski region).

Fügen itself has two ski areas to choose from: Spieljoch and Hochfügen-Hochzillertal. The valley station of the Hochfügen-Hochzillertal Ski Dorado can be reached by ski bus from Fügen and is located at 1,500 m above sea level. The location in the high alpine valley basin guarantees winter sports enthusiasts guaranteed snow until the end of April. The high valley is ideally suited for skiers who are looking for a skiing area for all demands. The snow park with half pipe also ensures fun & action for boarders. The connection between Hochfügen and Hochzillertal provides you with around 89 km (incl. ski routes) of varied pistes, including an illuminated valley run, and 39 lifts!

The Spieljoch ski area offers a further 17.1 km of excellently groomed slopes and 4 km of ski routes, a total of 7 lifts and magic carpets for the first ski turns in the snow. Fantastic deep snow slopes on the Geolsalm and the 7 km long downhill run to Fügen will elicit sounds of excitement from even the most experienced skiers.

Night skiing Fügen

Just like in many other ski areas in Austria, there also is a diverse offer of night skiing possibilities in Zillertal. The ski area Hochfügen-Hochzillertal opens 2 pistes for skiing until night-time: In the local ski area of Fügen, the 2 km "Stephan-Eberharter-Goldpiste" is illuminated once per week. The valley run is equipped with floodlights and leads from the middle station to the valley station of Hochzillertal mountain railway in Kaltenbach. From January until March, night owls can have fun on the red piste, which can be covered with artificial snow, during the extended operation times until 22:00. From Fügen you can reach the night ski area with the free ski bus.

Furthermore, a floodlit night ski piste can also be found at the Lamark lifts in Hochfügen. An evening ski show is presented on several dates here.

Après ski Fügen

In comparison with other lesser-known resorts in the Zillertal, Fügen is truly "the place to be". The huts invite you in for refreshment, e.g. the rustic "Schihütte" at the Spieljoch valley run. Once in the valley, the après ski really sets off: whether under an umbrella or in the bars, skiers party, dance and flirt for all they're worth. Later in the evening, the party moves into the many bars and clubs or one of the four discos.

In the evening, toboggan races by torchlight are offered, or perhaps go on a romantic walk by lantern light. You can also spoil yourself in the many restaurants and taverns of the village. A culinary highlight of the ski area Kaltenbach-Hochzillertal are the crystal huts, which can be found in the mountain station Kristall-Express at an altitude of 2,150 m and offer you young, creative cuisine at attractive prices. Fresh, regional products are served. In the inner huts, you can find an open fireplace as well as quaint parlours, and nice weather providing, a bar-adjacent sun terrace with lounge chairs and water beds can be enjoyed. In addition, since the winter season 2013/2014, a wine cellar has been added.

Those who don't want to part with their skis in the evening can go night skiing by floodlight. If you still have energy afterwards, a visit to the Erlebnistherme Zillertal is a must: here you will find a varied children's area with the longest water slide in western Austria (133 m) as well as a modern wellness and sauna area.

Next to the thermal bath you can find an ice rink that organises an ice disco on a regular basis. In Fügen and the surrounding areas, you can also choose between various toboggan runs, some of which are lit in the evening. Winter hikes and relaxing horse-drawn carriage rides round off the offer perfectly.

Snowpark: Snowpark Betterpark Fügen

The "Betterpark" Hochzilltertal is located in close proximity to the "Schnee Express" 8-person chairlift at an altitude between 2,050 - 2,120 m in the ski area Hochzillertal-Hochfügen.

The park-own lift takes you comfortably and directly to the top, so that you can move over to the next ride. Three lines with different levels of difficulty can be found in the park, where beginners, intermediates and pros can test their talent on kickers and other obstacles. An additional highlight is the jib line at the foot of the park, where there various boxes and rails to use. The new "Snowpark Lamark" near the Lamark lift was introduced in December 2016, and is composed of three lines with 13 elements, of which caters to all levels of difficulty and provides plenty of fun!

The chill area with container, sun bed and the perfect sound system invites you after a long freestyle day or when taking a break. Apart from the "Betterpark" fun and freestyle fans will find much more snow parks to let off steam in the entire Zillertal, e.g. in Mayrhofen, Gerlos or at the Hintertux glacier.
