Ski area Kaunertal Glacier - Fendels

With the lift pass "Kaunertaler Gletscher - Fendels", you have access to approx. 34 km of piste in two different ski areas. In total there are 13 lift systems that transport you comfortable up the mountains. You can choose between the family-friendly ski area Fendels, with it's 11 km of piste and the ski area at the Kaunertal Glacier, with further 23 km of piste and many freeride options.

In Fendels, beginners will find mostly easy and intermediate pistes. Children can burn off steam in the "Bibiland". The valley run is an especially pretty piste, idyllically passing by romantic larch forests. More experienced skiers can take the Plangger lift and test themselves on more sporty and challenging runs. Once per week, skiing in the evening is also possible.

At the Kaunertal Glacier, winter sports fans can venture between 2,180 and 3,108 m altitude. With the Postbus, you have the possibility to get up to 2,750 m altitude, where it lets you off at Austria's highest-located Postbus stop. The glacier ski area offer wide and relatively soft slopes. It is also very popular with freestylers - also thanks to the snowparks at 2,990 m - and with freeriders, who can enjoy approx. 30 km of varied freeride terrain. Free Wi-Fi is available here and at the mountain restaurant Weißsee.

NEW: Both of the "Weißseeferner" tow lifts have been replaced by the handicapped-accessible "Falginjoch" cable car, which takes you comfortably up to the Falginjoch peak. The cable car itself was also designed as a method of observation, thereby offering numerous glass features and exciting views into the technology of the cable car.

Night skiing Fendels

Night skiing in Kauner Valley does not take place at Kauner Valley Glacier, but in the family-friendy ski area Fendels which turns into the region's night ski centre in the evening. Every Thursday, night owls meet up for skiing by night-time at the Sattelboden lift in the respectable night ski area. During the extended opening hours from 19:00 to 22:00, the red piste "Nordabfahrt" is illuminated by floodlight. The piste is 2.5 km long and it is illuminated from Sattelboden down to the valley station, and it is reserved for night-owls only. After night skiing, you can make another stop at the popular "Bauernschmaus" all you can eat. Apart from the night ski piste, fans of tobogganing can look forward to an additional 4.5 toboggan run that is illuminated until 22:30. Separate night ski passes must be acquired in resort.

Après ski Fendels

On the glacier, the best place to meet up is at the umbrella bar Weißsee - the perfect spot to let the ski day come to a sociable end. The glacier road leads down to Feichten, where you can best get together in the KIWI (Kirchenwirt). Especially snowboarders and younger people like going there. In Fendels, at the parking lot of the lift station, there is the umbrella bar Fendels, which attracts with great music and a great atmosphere. Numerous restaurants, pubs and inns offer traditional, Tyrolean cuisine and a less lively atmosphere to unwind in the evenings.

The programme is rounded off with the weekly night toboggan and night skiing events, ice skating or curling. Or you can just pull on the snowshoes and explore the area on a hiking tour.

Snowpark: Snowpark Kaunertal Fendels

If you are looking for a really special freestyle experience, with the newest obstacles and the opportunity to get the taste of an up-level snowpark, then the "Snowpark Kaunertal" is the best place to go! Starting in autumn 2018 there is a new snowpark, aka "The Nature Run". This runs from the mountain station of the Karlesjochbahn over different routes that leads back to the gondola.

Various kicker and obstacle lines can be easily combined with each others. As a beginner, best practice for jumps tricks can be gathered on the mini shreds and easy jibs. The pros practice directly alongside - the best way to check out how to perfect the moves.

Various lines, with a total of 20 different elements, let every freestyler's heart beat faster. From the pro, medium and easy kicker line, hips, 6 m long wallride, a jib line with over 16 "back2back" features to the "snake run", there's something for everyone. Freestyling on the Kaunertal glacier even goes on longer than elsewhere: the legendary "Spring Classics" offer shredding and jibbing possibilities way into April and May.

If you would like to share your best jump with your friends, the park also offers Wi-Fi connection, for uploading your best shots.
