What is Tomorrowland?

The legendary Tomorrowland is arguably one of the world’s best-known music festivals. The festival made its debut in 2005 and has since taken place every summer in the Belgian town of Boom. Back then, it was much smaller and there was no campsite, so visitors simply pitched their tents on the grass in front of the stage. It is now one of the top three largest festivals in the world in terms of visitor numbers.

In 2025, a total of just under 400,000 visitors from over 200 countries attended the premier festival for electronic dance music (EDM). More than 800 artists performed on countless stages, including the absolute world’s best in electronic dance music. Incidentally, one of the scene’s stars, DJ David Guetta, played his hits on the main stage for 14 years running. Tomorrowland is characterised by its unique show concept. Alongside the music, gigantic fairytale-style stages are erected every year and the performances are rounded off with an impressive light, fire and LED show, including fireworks.

In 2025, tens of thousands of festival-goers from all over the world celebrated with the star DJs of the EDM scene in Alpe d’Huez at Tomorrowland in the snow:

In 2019, Tomorrowland Winter made its debut in France. Held in the snow, it is set to be every bit as good as its summer counterpart. Every year, visitors can look forward to well-known DJs, lovingly designed stages and breathtaking shows, all set against the stunning mountain backdrop of the beautiful Alpe d’Huez ski resort.

Music, magic & pure nature at Tomorrowland Winter

Just as with the summer edition of Tomorrowland, festival-goers can expect a fictional world full of music, dance and magic in Alpe d’Huez. And all this in a real winter wonderland, where you can not only party but also go skiing and snowboarding. For Tomorrowland Winter, the organisers transform the entire Alpe d’Huez ski resort, with its staggering 250 kilometres of slopes, into this very fairy-tale world of art.

In 2019, Tomorrowland Winter took place for the first time under the theme “The Hymn of the Frozen Lotus” and was a resounding success. 30,000 visitors from almost 100 countries thronged the slopes and in front of the stages, celebrating and dancing to the music of top acts such as Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix and Afrojack. Dozens of culinary hotspots, a varied supporting programme, the enchanting winter landscape and the magnificent slopes on the edge of one of the most famous ski resorts in the French Alps rounded off the festival experience.

Tomorrowland Winter 2026 Line-up

For Tomorrowland Winter 2026, the organisers have, of course, once again put together a fabulous line-up that is sure to set EDM fans’ hearts racing. The festival takes place from 21 to 28 March 2026 and captivates visitors with its unique combination of winter sports and DJ sets on stages set against a stunning backdrop. On the day of skiing, the focus is initially on the slopes, but by the afternoon the party can begin when the EDM stars take to the decks. To this end, DJ booths and stages are set up in the huts and bars across the ski resort until sunset. Incidentally, the highest stage is situated at a staggering 3,330 metres.

Partying here is an experience that winter sports enthusiasts won’t forget in a hurry. But when darkness falls, the party is far from over – quite the opposite. In Alpe d’Huez itself, the organisers are, as usual, setting up several winter-themed Tomorrowland stages. These include the covered and heated Main Stage, where the headliners perform their hits and crown the wild party experience with a breathtaking light, laser and fire show.

Skiing in Alpe d’Huez

The French ski resort of Alpe d’Huez lies at an altitude of 1,860 metres, offering virtually seamless access to the ski area: it’s straight from bed to the slopes here – or rather, straight from bed to the festival site! Combined with excellent snow conditions and around 250 kilometres of slopes on sun-drenched hillsides, it’s no wonder that winter sports enthusiasts rave about this mega-ski resort season after season.

Among the most spectacular runs on the outskirts of the village – which has recently gained fame thanks to the legendary 21-bend climb featured in the Tour de France – is undoubtedly the legendary “Sarenne”. As the name suggests, the run begins on the Sarenne Glacier and, at 16 km, is the longest black run in the world! A real treat for ambitious winter sports enthusiasts. And for those who’ve had enough of the runs during Tomorrowland Winter in the ski resort and the festival’s beats, simply strap on your skis just outside the Alpine village and enjoy the wonderfully peaceful mountain scenery of the French Alps around Alpe d’Huez.

Who wouldn’t fancy a spot of skiing in Alpe d’Huez at the sight of these mountains?
