Skiing in the form of a club holiday is rather unusual, but definitely recommendable. SnowTrex has a number of Club Med winter resorts on offer that provide guests with a top-notch skiing holiday. The Club’s premium all-inclusive concept leaves nothing to be desired. SnowTrex has collected plenty of information about Club Med and in particular about the Club Med winter resorts.
What is Club Med?
The Club Méditerranée S.A. (“Club Med” for short) is a French tourism company which was founded in 1950 when Gérard Blitz, a Belgian, established the first club village in Alcúdia on Mallorca. 2,500 holidaymakers spent their holidays in the so-called “Club Méditerranée” (French for “Mediterranean Club”) in 1950 – in 200 army tents! Nobody would have believed that this tent village would become the third largest provider of club holidays in German-speaking countries. What started out as a small non-profit club quickly developed into a commercial enterprise and the number of club villages grew steadily over the years, and from 1960 onwards also in the form of hotel complexes. A firm component was always the “Premium All Inclusive” concept as well as the “Gentil Organisateurs” (French for “friendly organisers”), who are nowadays known in other holiday clubs as hosts. The first snow club village was opened in the mid 1950’s in the Vaud Alps in Switzerland. Here, guests were instructed in skiing by ski world champion James Couttet. The guests of the club should at no time be lacking in anything and should have a stress-free, harmonious holiday. To this day, nothing has changed in this principle.
There are currently Club Med clubhouses all over the world, more than 60 holiday clubs in total and the possibility of spending your holidays on the “Club Med 2” club ship. The Club Méditerranée is the third largest provider of club holidays in German-speaking countries and enjoys great popularity among a wide variety of target groups. Single or family, sports or wellness lovers: everyone gets their money’s worth in the well-equipped and versatile accommodations. In addition, the incredible 15,000 employees ensure that the all-inclusive holiday is an experience that guests will never forget. A special feature of the club is the vocabulary of the guests and employees. The travellers are called “G. M. – Gentil Membre” (French for “friendly member”) – while the hosts on the premises are known as “G. O. – Gentil Organisateur” (French for “friendly organiser”). The names definitely meet the unique handling in the accommodations. Everything is done to make the guests feel comfortable. The warm reception, the family atmosphere and the individual care of the guests leave nothing to be desired.
Diverse offer for the whole family
The wide range of Club Med accommodation is designed to meet the needs of our clients. Many clubhouses are located in warm holiday regions, but there are also club resorts in the mountains. The Gentil Membres can look forward to a wide range of sports, entertainment and spa activities. While the warmer regions offer tennis, golf or water sports such as sailing, the snowy regions focus on winter sports. Each Club Med resort usually has one or more restaurants. The professional chefs spoil their guests with a variety of dishes from all over the world. The buffets offer everything a connoisseur’s heart desires. In addition, there are one or more bars in each club that invite you to have a drink or two. The meals in the morning, lunch and evening as well as the drinks at the bar are almost exclusively included in the price. Thanks to the personal atmosphere, it is not uncommon to get to know other guests in the restaurant or at the bar.
Childcare in the accommodation should also be highlighted. Trained staff with a varied schedule ensure that the little holidaymakers don’t get bored. (Please pay attention to the offer in resort!)
What is certain is that the Gentil Membres in the club accommodations have a lot to choose from. The sports and entertainment facilities combined with the luxurious ambience make for an unforgettable holiday experience. That has its price, of course. However, for holidaymakers who want to enjoy a very special kind of premium all-inclusive holiday, the high costs are justified and the price-performance ratio is absolutely right.
The Club Med winter resorts
The Club Med winter resorts have a lot to offer and provide a winter holiday where snow-lovers will want for nothing. In the clubhouses, there are luxurious and, above all, comfortably furnished rooms and suites. After an exhausting day on the slopes, relaxation is of course not to be missed out on. Saunas, steam baths, swimming pools and jacuzzis are usually to be found in the accommodations, in addition there are professional masseurs in some resorts who round off the spa programme. Winter holidaymakers who still have energy reserves after a multifaceted day’s skiing can look forward to well-equipped fitness rooms.
The winter sports offers of Club Med are also worth mentioning. First of all, it should be noted that the accommodations are in top locations. The next descent or lift is usually not far away and in many accommodations, you can even strap on the skis directly in front of the accommodation. What more could you ask for? The all-inclusive programme often includes not only the lift pass, but also ski lessons for beginners and advanced skiers, led by professional ski instructors. Families in particular benefit from this offer: while the little onces learn their first turns in a playful way, parents can look forward to somewhat faster descents and enjoy their time together.
