As part of the 2026/2027 FIS Nordic Combined World Cup, men, and women will once again compete side by side for the ‘Black Forest Cup’. Both will each compete in two individual events here. The ski jumping will always take place on the normal hill (100 m hill size), although the men’s combined athletes will ski 10 km and 7.5 km on the cross-country course, whilst the women’s combined athletes will ski 5 km twice.

28 to 31 January: Seefeld (Austria)

Once again this season, the “Nordic Combined Triple”, colloquially known as the “Seefeld Triple”, is one of the highlights for Nordic combined athletes. In 2026, the three-day event will feature on the World Cup calendar for the thirteenth time. Overall, the Triple is so attractive for the Nordic Combined World Cup overall standings because, in addition to extra prize money, it also awards double World Cup points. Unlike at normal World Cup events, the cross-country distance to be covered varies from day to day. On Friday, following the qualifying jump from the Toni Seelos Olympic Hill (109 m hill size), competitors face a 7.5 km cross-country race; on Saturday, 10 km; and on Sunday, the final day, 12.5 km. In addition, the women’s Nordic combined athletes are also competing in Seefeld at the same time. They, too, will jump from the Seelos ski jump and then complete a 5 km cross-country race.

25 February to 6 March: Falun (Sweden)

The Nordic World Ski Championships are the absolute highlight of the season for Nordic combined athletes. In 2027, the World Championships will take place from 25 February to 6 March in Falun, Sweden. Three events are on the programme for the men. These consist of an individual event and an individual compact event, featuring a 10 km and a 7.5 km cross-country race respectively, preceded by jumps from the normal hill (109 m) and the large hill (143 m). There is also a team sprint for the men, featuring two Nordic combined athletes, in which both athletes first compete on the large hill and then take turns covering 7.5 km on the cross-country course. The Nordic combined athletes then compete together in the mixed relay. For the women, the programme also includes an individual event, an Individual Compact and a team sprint.

11 to 13 March: Oslo (Norway)

The ‘Holy Mountain’ of Nordic skiing is, and always will be, Holmenkollen in Oslo. No other competition is steeped in as much legend as the one held in Norway’s capital. The sense of awe and anticipation is correspondingly high, even among the Nordic combined athletes. For the men, an individual event is on the programme here. In their event, they will jump from the large hill (134 m hill size), then ski 10 km on the cross-country track, thereby fulfilling the key requirements to avoid disqualification in the Nordic combined. In the women’s Nordic combined event in 2027, there will also be a single jump from the large hill, followed by a 5 km cross-country race on the trail, before the overall World Cup winners are crowned.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-wrapped="true" class="wp-image-51268 size-Artikelbild_groß" title="Holmenkollen in Oslo is regarded as one of the ‘cathedrals’ of Nordic skiing. The athletes will gather in Finland, 60 km south of the Arctic Circle, for the Nordic Opening. The women, on the other hand, will not begin their competition series by 3 to 6 December 2026 in Trondheim (Norway).

When will the first relay of the 2025/2026 season take place?

The first relay of the 2026/2027 season is, in fact, a mixed relay for women and men. It will be held during the highlight of the Nordic Combined World Cup, the Nordic World Ski Championships, in Falun, Sweden, from 25 February to 6 March 2027. Here, following their jumps from the normal hill, the two men must each complete 5 km on the cross-country ski trail, whilst the two women must complete 2.5 km following their jumps.

Where will the 2026/2027 Nordic Combined World Cup conclude?

The 2026/2027 FIS Nordic Combined World Cup will conclude with a final competition weekend in the Norwegian capital, Oslo. There, from 11 to 13 March 2027, one individual event and one individual compact event will take place for both male and female Nordic combined athletes.

Since when has the Nordic Combined World Cup been running?

The first official season of the Nordic Combined World Cup kicked off in 1983. The very first competition took place on 17 December in Seefeld. Following a jump from the normal hill (90 m hill size) and a 15 km cross-country race, the victory in Austria was shared by Kerry Lynch from the USA and Uwe Dotzauer from the GDR. The women, however, did not compete in their very first official World Cup event until the 2020/2021 season. On 18 December, the American Tara Geraghty-Moats claimed victory in Ramsau (Austria) following a jump from the normal hill (98 m hill size) and a 5 km cross-country race.

Where can I watch the Nordic Combined World Cup on TV?

Recently, the private sports channel Eurosport has provided sporadic live coverage of the Nordic Combined World Cup, featuring live broadcasts, several highlights programmes and other highlights from events such as the ‘Seefeld Triple’ in Austria.

How much money do the winners of the Nordic Combined World Cup earn?

The Nordic Combined World Cup winner receives 12,140 euros for first place in the overall standings. Victory in a single World Cup event, on the other hand, is worth 10,000 euros. For the women, the overall winner receives 9,998 euros, and the winner of a single World Cup event receives 5,100 euros. In winter sports, it is also traditional for the overall World Cup trophies to be made of the finest crystal glass.
