1. Perfect for beginners and families<\/h2>\n

Only about an hour’s drive from the sea and the capital Nicosia lies the Sun Valley ski area on Mount Olympus of the Tr\u00f3odos Mountains. From the beginning of January to the end of March, Cyprus’ guests have the opportunity to ski here and experience its exotic ski area. A chairlift and 3 tow lifts transport winter sports fans to the ski area at altitudes ranging from 1,731 m to 1,951 m. A total of 4 kilometres of pistes cover the ski area, which is known for its Mediterranean landscape in summer. Skiers can choose between 1 km of blue, 2 km of red and 1 km of black piste. Even cross-country skiers are catered for at Mount Olympus with 2 trails. Thus, the ski area in the Tr\u00f3odos Mountains is very suitable for families with children and beginners.<\/p>\n

2. Skiing like the pros<\/h2>\n

For those who like it a little more challenging, the North Face ski area on the north side of Mount Olympus is just the thing. International ski competitions of the FIS World Ski Federation have already taken place there. At the moment, the ski area is 370 metres long and 120 metres high, but according to the operator, it is to be expanded further and further so that one day international giant slalom competitions can be held. National ski competitions are already held regularly at the North Face ski area.<\/p>\n

3. Snowskating: The somewhat different kind of skiing<\/h2>\n

For those who find skiing and snowboarding too boring in the long run, snowskating is certainly the right alternative. The Limassol Skate School not only offers Sled Dogs snowskates for rent, but also offers private and group lessons. Nevertheless, anyone can learn to snowskate quickly, whether young or old.<\/p>\n

4. Fascinating landscapes<\/h2>\n

The special landscape attracts more and more tourists to Cyprus for skiing. Here, an impressive backdrop of Mediterranean vegetation and glistening white snow awaits them. Cedars, Aleppo pines, Corsican pines, golden oaks, pines and plane trees are often found here. Mouflons, a species of wild sheep, live here as well. For those who want to learn more about the flora and fauna of the Troodos Mountains, the numerous nature trails are suitable.<\/p>\n

5. Sun, beach and snow<\/h2>\n

If you are already skiing in Cyprus, you shouldn’t miss out on the various sights. Cyprus is a real tourist hotspot for a reason. The best thing is that there are certainly no long waiting times or crowded roads here in winter. What’s more, the mild temperatures on the coast make you want to go for a walk on the beach or take a dip in the cool sea. At the same time, you shouldn’t miss the many monasteries, harbours and old Greek theatres, either. If the weather isn’t that great, you can relax in one of the many caf\u00e9s in the old towns or in one of the historical Greek museums.
