Ski holidays Bad Aussee - a dream in white!

Bad Aussee

The so-called Mittelpunktstein (centre stone) is located in the town park at an altitude of 659 metres and marks the geographical centre of Austria. Bad Aussee owes its existence to the salt mine near Altaussee, where salt has been mined since 1147. A real holiday highlight is a tour of the salt mine, which is still in operation today.

Bad Aussee is also known for its fabrics and hand-printing art, which is why the region is also known as the "traditional costume island". Those who want to combine culture, shopping and spa can relax wonderfully at Vital Bad Aussee. The two thermal baths in Bad Mitterndorf, only 14 kilometres away, are also highly recommended. The range of sports and leisure activities is diverse, ranging from groomed hiking trails, snowshoe hikes and horse-drawn sleigh rides to winter horse riding and tobogganing. Nowhere is the Salzkammergut as lively and varied as in Bad Aussee.

Styrian Salzkammergut

The Styrian Salzkammergut - comprising the Ausseerland and Hinterberg Valley - is a region with upholds lots of charm and tradition. Folk music, dance and costume play a large role here. Many resorts in this area can still proudly present hand-made crafts, such as textile printing, custom tailoring, leather trouser crafting and hat crafting. The beautiful and diverse landscape with various valleys, the Traun river bed, many lakes and mountain peaks - such as the dominant Dachstein massif and the Totes Gebirge (dead mountains) - make this a unique place to visit.
