Ski area Gerlitzen

High above Lake Ossiach, there are about 45 km of piste and 15 km of ski routes waiting to be explored. All levels of ability are catered for in the ski area "Gerlitzen". No matter if you are beginner or expert, you can enjoy the wonderful, sunny, wide pistes on the snow-sure Gerlitzen! High-tech snow-making machines run from November right through to April and ensure great piste quality on all the mountain sides.

The ski area, located in the heart of the Carinthia, is especially suited for families with children, and has been awarded the quality seal "welcome beginners". The little ones are catered for around the middle station, where there are ideal conditions for practising. Further, there are child-care facilities in the kid's land and the "Schneebärenland". Beginners will find easy to intermediate pistes to enhance their skills on. More experienced skiers can enjoy the 6 km long valley run to Klösterle, which covers a difference in altitude of approx. 911 m on its way down. On the approx. 1.5 km long Wörthersee descent, you make your way down from the 1,911 m high Gerlitzen peak, whilst marvelling at the wonderful view of Lake Ossiach and the surrounding mountains. A real insider's tip for ski pros is the Gegendtaler run with a total length of 1.7 km. Freeriders and snowboarders can run riot on natural ice runs and deep powder snow descents. For children there is also a small snowpark at the middle station of the Kanzel lift.

A further highlight in the ski area is the "Stella Ronda", a 360° star ski round-course, which extends over 35 km through the ski area.

Après ski Bodensdorf

Apres ski in Bodensdorf already starts in the ski area itself. The first warming drink can already be picked up from one of the cosy huts or umbrella bars on the mountain. Popular meeting points are therefore the Cielo Mountain Lounge, the umbrella bar of the Prinzhütte, the snow bar ZAN 8-TA at the Neugarten-Almseehütte and the large Klösterle Hütt'n. In Bodensdorf itself one can move on to the cosy Café Biero later on, to enjoy a few tasty cocktails. If you still have energy then, the evening can come to a close in the Tanzstadl Tenne. For those who prefer a quieter evening, there is cinema available in Bodensdorf.

Further, there is also an active afternoon programme on offer here. The lovely area can be explored e.g. on winter hike or on guided snowshoe hikes. Skittle fans can meet on the local sports skittles alley, ice skaters have the Ossiacher Seehall (ice rink) to go to. Additionally, a number of excursions can be made along Lake Ossiach. Warmbach-Villach for instance, offers the "Kärnten Therme" thermal pool complex, offering fun, spa and fitness. The nature park Dobratsch is the perfect place for hiking - both in summer and winter. And in Ossiach there is the famous, local diocese.

Snowpark: Kids Snowpark Bodensdorf

In the ski area "Gerlitzen", freestylers on skis and snowboard will find a small but entertaining park to burn off some steam! At the Klösterle section there is the "Kids Park", which is ideal for getting some first experiences on various obstacles.

Jumps, corners, boxes, slides and waverides offer a great introduction into the scene and will entice every new freestyler to-be. Combinations of various obstacles and a larger jump also invite more experienced riders to brush up on their skills.

A special advantage is the fast chairlift directly at the park, as this minimises waiting times and keep the adrenaline junkies on the go in-between their jumps. Curious? Then off you go to freestyle paradise Gerlitzen!
