Surrounded by diverse ski areas, Mauterndorf is the ideal starting point for all winter sports activities. The predominantly easy to intermediate pistes, as well as the great options for children make this resort especially attractive to families. However, the resort also offers plenty of sporting and leisure time activities off the piste, allowing you to enjoy your holiday time to its fullest potential! Winter hikes through gorgeous natural surroundings, romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice skating, tobogganing, or relaxing experiences in the spa are just a few examples. Along with the historic resort centre, the unique symbol of Mauterndorf is its impressive castle from the 13th century. Travel back in time to the late middle ages or visit the "Lungau Landscape Museum" (German: "Lungauer Landschaftsmuseum"). The 44 m high defense tower provides visitors with a fascinating view of Mauterndorf and the surrounding mountains.
