Ski holidays Millstatt – cultural heart at the Millstätter Lake!
Millstatt
The Carinthians refer to Lake Millstatt and the lakeside town of Millstatt as the jewel of Carinthia – and rightly so. The market town of Millstatt, which will soon celebrate its 1,000th anniversary, has grown historically and captivates visitors with its distinctive artistic and architectural character. A cultural and historical highlight is the pretty collegiate church with its two onion domes and the famous cloister, which is attached to a medieval monastery. In addition to its cultural attractions, this lively town also offers a wide range of sporting activities. Several ice rinks in the town are available free of charge for skating. In Millstatt, winter hiking also adds to the recreational appeal. The district of Kleindombra is the starting point for a nature trail for the whole family, which is dotted with nature discovery and fitness stations. The moderately difficult route begins with an easy passage where families can take their prams if necessary. Those who do not want to venture into the mountains on their own can turn to the professionals: the Millstatt section of the Austrian Alpine Club offers guided snowshoe tours and hikes in the region.
Lake Millstatt
Lake Millstatt is located at an altitude of 588 metres north of the Drau Valley near Spittal in Carinthia. With a length of 11.5 kilometres and a width of 1.8 kilometres, it is the second largest lake in Austria after Lake Wörthersee. In the various towns around the lake, you can stay in holiday apartments, chalets, hotels or holiday homes. Lake Millstatt is beautifully situated, nestled in the mountains of the Nockberge National Park and the Millstatt Alps. Skiing, hiking and mountaineering are paradise here. The panoramic views you are rewarded with while enjoying winter sports are unforgettable.Travel Millstatt
