Ski area Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine Ski

With the "Grand Domaine Ski" lift pass, you have access to the ski area of Alpe d'Huez, the majority of which is located on the south-southwest side of the "Massif des Grandes Rousses", therefore ensuring plenty of sunshine. The ski area (1,125 m - 3,330 m), with its 250 km of piste and 67 lifts counts as particularly snow-sure: 80% of the pistes lie above 1,800 m altitude!

The most spectacular piste, "La Sarenne", begins on the Sarenne glacier and runs along the front side of the Pic Blanc, continuing down into the valley. With a length of 16 km and a 1,730 m difference in altitude, it's one of the longest pistes in the world! Alternatively, the 3 km long, black, steep run "Le Tunnel" is only to be ridden by real experts, taking skiers from the Pic Blanc through a tunnel and out onto a mogul slope. The red pistes up on the "Dôme des Petits Rousses" are not as tricky, but are still rather demanding. The "Bartavelles" run in particular oftentimes provides skiers with good snow conditions and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, neighbouring valleys and impressive rock faces. Beginners will find perfect practice slopes on the resort edges of Alpe d'Huez and Vaujany. Freestylers are also optimally tended to: The fun park at the "Le Lac Blanc" chair lift is only recommended for real experts, although the "Montfrais" fun park is much easier and is designed for beginners looking to test out their first tricks.

Back during the 2016/2017 winter season, the "Signal" was transformed into a combination lift (10-person gondolas and 8-person chair lifts), thus transporting up to 3,370 winter sports fans per hour.

Those who wish to continue skiing into the evening have the opportunity to enjoy night skiing for free in both Alpe d'Huez as well as Auris en Oisans when in possession of the "Grand Domaine Ski" lift pass. From 21/12/2019 - 13/03/2020 and from 21/03/2020 - 10/04/2020, when booking a 6-day lift pass or more, you will also have access to the ski areas of the Grande Galaxie: ski for two days in the Les 2 Alpes ski area (225 km) and one day each in Serre Chevalier (250 km), Puy St. Vincent (75 km) and in the ski areas around Sestrière and Montgenèvre of the Via Lattea (Italy, 400 km). To visit both ski areas of the Via Lattea, please be sure to pick up a receipt from the lift office when presenting your lift pass.

In Alpe d'Huez there are a few discos, as well as several bars and cafés which ensure a varied nightlife. Wild parties can be had in bars such as the "Tavern", where live bands regularly play. For a good dance the best place to go is the hip night club "L'Igloo".

The vast number of activities such as an ice laser game, skidooing, snow-shoeing and winter hiking, tobogganing or various indoor sports, e.g. tennis, squash, or climbing in the Palais des Sports in Alpe d'Huez ensure even "piste free" days are fun! A good tip for all those seeking action is climbing on the 200 m high climbing wall Gorges de Sarenne - ideal for all those looking for an adrenalin buzz! Water lovers, on the other hand, have the choice between an indoor pool and a heated outdoor pool! There are also lots of shopping facilities in resort for all shopping lovers!

Snowpark: Snowpark Alpe d'Huez

In the entire area of Alpe d'Huez there are 2 very different snow parks. The beginner park offers various boxes, rail-boxes, slide bars and woops. Beginners can try out quite a few things here, but also more experienced riders can use this park to practice their skills.

The second park is located in the ski area more for expert freestylers. The park is to be found close to the "Troncon" ski lift. Here there are some long BigAir kickers waiting to be used. Further the park offers various slide bars, a wave rail, a street rail, a C-box, a hip, 2 totems, a boardercross run and a half-pipe (which depends on the amount of snow). Kickers and rails are level-orientated and available in green, blue, red and black levels. Therefore, this is something for the more experienced boarders.

Furthermore, two different boardercross runs as wel as a large airbag that can be used with a tire offers fun for families and pros.
