Cross-country Masserberg

There is a large network of around 70 km of groomed and signposted cross-country ski trails and ski hiking trails in the municipality of Masserberg. Two cross-country ski trails are available directly in the village. One leads 4.5 km through the district of Masserberg, the second runs for 5 km from the district of Schnett towards Masserberg. The cross-country skiing garden in Masserberg is a great place for beginners. Here, the various techniques are explained on information boards and can be practised straight away. For a longer learning session, the park is floodlit on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 pm.



The Thuringian Forest is a true paradise for cross-country skiing. There are around 140 kilometres of classic-style cross-country trails on the famous Rennsteig alone. The long-distance ski trail connects all the cross-country skiing areas in the region over this length, creating a huge range of trails of varying degrees of difficulty.
