Ski area Idre Fjäll

Ski area Idre Fjäll

In the ski area "Idre Fjäll" you will find a total of 41 km of pistes and 25 lifts. The area is especially popular due to two factors: it is diverse to cater to all levels, and it provides pistes access in all four directions (North, South, East and West). From the peak of the Gränjesvålen you can enjoy a wonderful panorama view of the landscape and then just descend down the mountain in any direction you desire. That way you can't miss out on the sunny side.

Many accommodations ins Idre Fjäll are located directly at the foot of the pistes. The terrain has something to offer for everyone: many blue runs for beginners and children. The little ones can additionally enjoy themselves in the 4 children's areas, dotted over the entire ski area. On the Askestigen piste you can descend through a lovely forest. This is especially delightful for children as there a some fairytale figures to discover here.

More challenging pistes have names such as "Toker" (the crazy) or "Ravinen" (the gorge), or even "Chocken" (shock). The latter is the steepest in the whole of Dalarna - with a 45 degree inclination angle. With 2.8 km the "Dalarnas längsta" is the longest piste in the area. Freestylers will also find a fun park available to practice their tricks and jumps.

Night skiing Idre Fjäll

In the ski area Idre Fjäll, night skiing is an important part of the programme. A small night ski area can be found at the edge of Idre, and local families as well as guests from Sweden and all over Europe can enjoy night skiing here. Night skiing is possible in the lower area of the "Västbacken" piste which is operated by three tow lifts: Västlift 1 and 2 as well as "Västtransporten". The lifts extend their operation times every Monday and Friday until 19:00. The illuminated, beginner-friendly piste is marked green and it is approx. 1 km long. Numerous mountain huts alongside the piste and down in the valley invite you to stay for a break. With several days lift passes, night skiing is included. Après ski Idre Fjäll

In idyllic Idre Fjäll, active apres ski is more focused on, rather than partying. Families can get together in the ski area, in "Charlie's", for family apres ski. In the restaurant "Värdshuset", themed evenings are organised each night as well as special themes like "steakhouse night", "Swedish home cooking", and much more. Or you can enjoy a hot drink in a very special atmosphere: The "Vildmarksnästet" provides an open fireplace and a rustic interior design and therefore a very special charm. In the resort itself there are numerous possibilities to let the day come to an end with a good meal. Tasty specialities such as elk fillet can be enjoyed at the "PW kök & bar". A highlight: you are surrounded by medals and honours of the Swedish skiing legend Pernilla Wiberg (double Olympic Champion, 4-times World Champion).

The landscape around Idre Fjäll is too beautiful to miss out on exploring it. Lace your snowshoes and go on a hiking tour to one of the traditional Sami huts. When participating in one of the organised tours you can additionally enjoy a traditional meal and listen to the tales of the indigene people. Go on an snowmobile tour, or try yourself at dog sledging - or maybe even dare a try on the snow cat. Test yourself at lasso throwing and possibly catch a reindeer. All these activities are organised for you locally.

Of course the little ones are also catered to! There is a special entertainment programme for them with apres ski games, mini disco, story hours and handicraft afternoon.

If you rather want to spend your time with classical sports offers, you have the chance to do that as well. There is a sports centre in Idre Fjäll where you can find and indoor pool with sauna area, a bowling alley, a climbing wall, football, basketball, badminton and tennis courts. Last, but not least Idre Fjäll can also offer great music events: if you venture over to Älvdalen you can visit the museum of the guitar builder Hagström. Elvis Presley and Frank Zappa for instance, loved to play these guitars.

Snowpark: Snowpark Idre Fjäll

The park has been awarded the title "Dreampark" and therefore complies to all the regulations of the Swedish ski association and the SLAO (Swedish lift operators association). The park reshaped on a daily basis.
