Ski holidays Saas-Fee - pearl of the Alps!
Saas-Fee
Even the journey through the Saas Valley with its deep gorges and steep mountain slopes is impressive. Surrounded by the highest mountains in the Swiss Alps, the road winds its way up to the entrance to the village at 1,800 metres. However, this is where you have to leave your car behind, as Saas-Fee is a car-free community. However, you can easily get around the village by free local bus, electric car or on foot. The former mountain farming village at the foot of the "Dom", at 4,545 m the highest mountain in Switzerland, has developed into a lively yet traditional winter sports resort with lots of flair and a wide range of shopping and entertainment options. From the village, various gondolas provide direct access to the ski area. At approx. 3,000 m, the most famous railway in the Saas Valley, the "Metro Alpin" funicular, starts and takes its passengers under the glacier to the Mittelallalin, a secondary peak of the Allalinhorn, at an altitude of approx. 3,500 m. There, you will be welcomed by the highest revolving restaurant in the world with a fantastic view of the mountain panorama, and on a clear day, you can even see the lights of Milan. One floor below is the entrance to the 5,000 m² ice pavilion, which offers fascinating insights into the world of the millennia-old Feegletscher at a constant temperature of -1°C.
After skiing, Saas-Fee offers a wide range of options: open-air bars with deckchairs at the foot of the slopes, cosy traditional restaurants in the village centre, numerous bars and discos, and a wide variety of sporting activities. These include sunrise skiing, which is particularly popular with early risers. Enjoy breathtaking silence, pristine slopes and, if you wish, a hearty breakfast with a colourful panorama.
Saastal
Framed by 18 four-thousand-metre peaks, the panorama of the Saas Valley is absolutely stunning! The lifts reach up to 3,573 m and open up a panorama of pistes with 146 km of all levels of difficulty. The famous "Metro Alpin", the highest underground funicular in the world, takes you under the glacier to the Mittelallalin, where a magnificent mountain backdrop awaits you. The ski area is also extremely attractive for international guests, as the Allalin Race, for example, takes place here. It is held at the end of the season and is the longest downhill race in the world, from 3,573 m down to the village at 1,800 m!The four villages at the foot of the pistes are well connected by bus so that you can make the most of your ski day. Each village has its own flair: there are family-friendly and down-to-earth villages with cosy Valais chalet-style houses, or villages characterised by lively après-ski. You will find variety here in any case!
