Cross-country Silvaplana

Information on cross-country skiing

240 km Cross-country trails (in km):

The entire ski region around Sils Maria has a network of around 240 kilometres of cross-country skiing trails, offering cross-country skiers a winter sports paradise that meets all requirements. The majority of the cross-country trails are of easy or medium difficulty.

Of particular note is probably the most famous cross-country trail in Switzerland: the 42 km marathon route between Maloja and S-chanf. The Engadin Skimarathon, the major cross-country skiing event of the year, takes place on this route every year on the second Sunday in March, with several thousand cross-country skiers taking part. A very attractive part of the route runs approx. 12 km over the frozen Lake Sils as well as over Lake Silvaplana and Lake Champferer.

The routes in the idyllic side valleys of Pontresina, Roseg and Morteratsch offer a special flair. The longest cross-country trail in the region, on the other hand, is a real challenge, covering 61 kilometres. It leads from Maloja via Zuoz and S-chanf to Zernez. The high altitude cross-country ski trails probably offer the most beautiful views. Here you can choose from the medium-difficulty "Alp Bondo" cross-country ski trail (2,093 to 2,200 m), which stretches over 8 km, as well as the high altitude cross-country ski trails near Maloja and Silvaplana.

If you don't want to leave the cross-country trail late at night, you can let off steam on one of the three floodlit trails, for example the 2 km long night trail near St. Moritz.

To use the trails, you need a Swiss cross-country ski pass.
