Ski & Snowboard Lessons
Discounts for SnowTrex customers at our partner ski schools
You can book lessons of your choice directly at the ski school in your holiday resort. In many resorts we co-operate with partner ski schools, where you receive discounts of 5 to 15 % on ski and snowboard lessons on site. If we offer a discount, this is noted in the inclusive services of the offer. You will receive the voucher with the ski school discount two weeks before arrival together with your travel documents. We recommend that you book your ski lessons in good time to ensure that there are still places available.Book ski and snowboard lessons in the booking process
In some destinations, we also offer ski and snowboard lessons organised by local ski schools directly in the booking process. In addition to the official language of the country, English is generally also spoken. The lessons are usually between 2 and 20 hours long, spread over 1 to 6 days. Lessons are held in the mornings or afternoons in small groups of around 4 to 12 participants. The exact times are determined by the ski school. To ensure that there is enough time to practise what has been learnt, lessons are given at the beginning of the week if possible. For children's lessons - if offered in the booking process - it cannot be guaranteed that they will take place at the same time as the adult lessons. As soon as small children attend a ski lesson, a lift pass is sometimes charged on site.If you book the lessons through us, please indicate the ski/snowboard proficiency of the respective traveller during the booking process. Ski and snowboard courses: Why choose a professional ski school
Professional ski tuition ensures rapid, steady progress and greater safety on the slopes. Qualified ski instructors usually teach beginners within 3 to 5 days so that they can ski down easy slopes in a controlled manner. As most accidents on the slopes are caused by skiing errors, methodical training in snowplough and turning techniques minimises the risk of injury right from the start.- Quick learning success with professionals: Qualified ski instructors teach the basic techniques (plough turns, carving, parallel turns) in a methodical and precise manner. This prevents poor posture, such as leaning back or incorrect weight transfer, from becoming ingrained right from the start.
- Safety and knowledge of the terrain: Ski schools teach anticipatory behaviour in accordance with the official FIS piste rules. In addition, ski instructors specifically select slopes and snow conditions that are precisely suited to the group’s actual ability.

FAQ
Which course is right for me?
Ski schools categorise skiing ability into standardised proficiency levels to help you find the right learning group:- Beginners: For those with no previous experience. The course aims to teach safe braking, the snowplough technique and initial edge changes, as well as how to use the practice lifts.
- Advanced beginners (Level 1): For winter sports enthusiasts who can ski down blue runs in a controlled snowplough. The course focuses on the basic parallel turn and the transition to fluid turns on gentle slopes.
- Advanced (Level 2): A prerequisite is the ability to ski confidently on blue and red runs (for snowboarders, approx. 1 to 2 weeks’ skiing experience). The course centres on rhythmic turning, basic carving techniques and speed control.
- Proficient skiers (Level 3): For advanced skiers who can tackle all slopes with confidence. The focus is on athletic short turns on steep slopes, carving with strong edge grip, and skiing on mogul runs and in deep snow.
Which is better: group lessons or private lessons?
The decision between group and private lessons depends on your budget, individual learning objectives and time frame:- Group lessons (approx. 4 to 12 participants) offer a sociable atmosphere and excellent value for money. They are particularly suitable for children, families and beginners who wish to learn continuously over a period of 3 to 5 days.
- Private lessons (1 to 2 people) enable the fastest progress, as the instruction is tailored to your needs and any mistakes in technique are corrected immediately. Ideal for those returning to the sport, short weekend trips or for refining specific techniques on steep slopes.
How much does a ski course cost on a skiing holiday?
A three-day group course (approx. 2 to 4 hours a day) costs on average between 200 and 320 euros per person in the Alps. For a full day of individual private tuition, the cost averages 350 to 500 euros.SnowTrex tip: SnowTrex guests receive exclusive discounts of 5 to 15 per cent off standard course prices at numerous partner ski schools. Details regarding validity and redemption can be found directly in the relevant offer and on your voucher.
From what age can children take part in a ski course?
Most ski schools offer fun-filled beginners’ and toddlers’ courses for children from around 3 to 4 years old. In specially designed children’s areas with magic carpets and colourful obstacle courses, children learn how to stand securely on their skis. For snowboarding courses, a minimum age of 6 to 7 years is usually recommended, as this requires more advanced motor coordination. For toddlers under 3 years old, many winter sports destinations also offer ski nurseries with supervision focused purely on playing in the snow, so that parents can enjoy the slopes without any worries. Why is it worth booking ski lessons online in advance?
Particularly during the peak season (e.g. over Christmas, New Year’s Eve or during the holiday months of February and March), ski lessons and qualified ski instructors are in high demand. By booking in advance, you’re guaranteed a place on a course for your skiing holiday. How do I get the discount at partner ski schools?
If there is a partner ski school at your booked holiday destination, your personal discount voucher will be sent to you around two weeks before departure, together with your travel documents. You present this voucher on arrival when registering for the course at the ski school, whereupon the discount will be applied. What equipment is required for the ski course?
The basic kit for attending the course includes weatherproof ski clothing following the tried-and-tested ‘layering’ principle, complemented by warm ski gloves and a well-fitting pair of ski goggles. A suitable ski helmet is essential – in most Alpine countries, wearing a helmet is a legal requirement for children and young people anyway. The actual equipment – skis, ski boots and ski poles (or a snowboard and boots) – does not necessarily have to be purchased in advance: numerous ski schools offer practical package deals where the appropriate hire equipment is already included in the course price.
Alternatively, you can conveniently book modern hire equipment directly during the booking process with many SnowTrex offers. This saves you valuable time on arrival and means you can start your course with perfectly suited equipment. You’ll find more detailed information on this directly during the booking process.
