Ski area Hochzillertal-Hochfügen-Spieljoch

Ski area Hochzillertal-Hochfügen-Spieljoch

With the "Zillertaler Superskipass" you can choose from 530 kilometres of piste in the Zillertal Arena, by the Mayrhofen lifts, in the Ski and Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000, as well as in the ski area Hochzillertal – Hochfügen – Spieljoch, and the Wildkogel-Arena in Bramberg. The ski areas are ideally connected with each other through a free bus and lift system. Since a few years, the Zillertal Arena offers free Wi-Fi connections in its ski areas! This way, you can directly share your experiences and highlights with your loved ones at home (see ski region).

From Schlitters, navigate your way in just a few minutes to Fügen, where you can directly enter the "Ski-optimal Hochzillertal-Hochfügen" ski area. Through the connection there between Hochfügen and Hochzillertal, you gain access to approx. 85 km of diverse pistes. The valley station of Ski-Dorados Hochfügen is situated at an altitude of 1,500 m, and is easily reached with the ski bus from Fügen. The Hochtal guarantees winter sports fans snow security until the end of April and is designed for all those who are looking for a ski area with limitless possibilities. The new lifts expose a gorgeous terrain up to an altitude of 2,360 m.

The Spieljoch ski area additionally offers 17 km of perfectly prepared slopes, as well as 10 lifts among which you can also find magic carpets for the first steps on skis. The 7 km valley run down to Fügen will make pleasure skiers happy. The focus here is on family and child friendliness.

Starting from December 2018, the 4-person Krössbichl chair lift will be replaced by the new 10-person Wimbachextress gondola in the Hochzillertal area. The new mountain station is home to the new and exclusive Italian restaurant "Albergo" and is situated about 180 m higher, allowing for further runs. As a little foretaste of the peak-to-peak connection between Hochzillertal-Hochfügen and Spieljoch to come in the 2019/2020 season, this season offers a ski bus connection between the Spieljoch valley station in Fügen and Kaltenbach in Hochzillertal.

Night skiing Schlitters

Night skiing in Austria is in high demand, so that the ski areas in Zillertal cannot lack night ski pistes. The ski area Hochfügen-Hochzillertal offers two night ski area where you can ski until night time. In Kaltenbach, night skiing takes place on the piste "Stephan-Eberharter-Goldpiste". The 5 km valley run is illuminated from the Hochzillertal gondola's middle station to the valley station and the whole piste can be covered in artificial snow. With the extended opening hours, the red piste is open until 22:00 from January until March. From Schlitters, the free ski bus takes you to the lift.

In Hochfügen, the blue pistes at the Lamark lifts are illuminated by floodlight. Several times within the season you can also enjoy a night time event here: the local ski instructor show ski acrobatics with light effects and fireworks.

Après ski Schlitters

The apres ski mecca Hochzillertal has just about everything to offer when it comes to ending your day of skiing successfully! Rustic, cosy ski huts and mountain pastures border the pistes and tempt you with lounge chairs and open fires. Especially exclusive are the Kristallhütte and the Wedelhütte. Afterwards, the Postalm and Seetal's umbrella bar, directly at the valley station of Hochzillertal, invite you to enjoy some Jagertee and warm, mulled wine.

Whoever has had enough of skiing and apres ski hustle-and-bustle can find a relaxing alternative programme in and around Schlitters. Several hiking trails run from the resort to the picturesque mountain world, such as the 2 hour long tour to the Spitzerköpfl (809 m), or the panoramic hiking trail to the Reither Kogel (1,336 m). However, to reach this 2.5 hour long trail, you will need to navigate your way up with the Reither cable car. A less sport-intensive alternative, one which helps you get to know the area a little better, is a ride with the nostalgic Zillertal train. Zillertal is not hard-pressed to offer romance and a stress-free experience. For water lovers, a trip to the adventure-thermal bath of Zillertal near Fügen is worth the visit. From spectacular water slides to spas with sauna landscapes, every family member will find something in the extensive thermal paradise. For the night owls, the neighbouring towns of Strass and Fügen have a large selection of cosy taverns, bars, and pubs.

Snowpark: Snowpark Betterpark Schlitters

The "Betterpark" in Hochzillertal ski area is located right next to the Schnee Expres 8-personen chairlift on an altitude of 2.050 to 2.120 m in the Hochzillertal-Kaltenbach ski area.

The in-park lift easily and comfortably gets you back up the mountain so that you can immediately start your next ride. You can find 3 lines of various levels of difficulty in the park, so that beginners, intermediates and experts can test their talent on kickers and more. An additional treat is the Jib line at the end of the park, which offers diverse boxes and rails to test out. The biggest highlights, though, are easily the XL-Kicker, which especially promises viewers from the chair lift an impressive show, and the 100 m long Superpipe, which can be found somewhat below the park at 1,950 m altitude.

After a long day of freestyling, or just for a short pause between runs, the Chill Area invites you to linger on their lounge chairs and treat your ears to an appropriate sound system. In the entire Zillertal freestylers will find numerous snowparks to let off steam, for example in Mayrhofen, Gerlos and at the glacier in Hintertux.
