Ski area Avoriaz
Avoriaz offers not only the highest amount of, but also the most diverse runs in the region! The wide and easy pistes are perfect for beginners and families; sportingly adept skiers get their money's worth on the "Crozats": with 4 km in length and 1,000 m in altitude drop, this is one of the steepest runs in the whole ski region. The legendary "Mur Suisse" (the Suisse Wall) is located in close proximity, which is known to be extremely steep and is only suitable for especially good skiers. Directly in the centre of Avoriaz the little ones will find entertainment in the kid's area.
With the lift pass "Les Portes du Soleil" you have access to 580 km of piste, open to you via the connection from Avoriaz itself, or from the Swiss resorts Torgon and Morgins (see ski region).
Night skiing Avoriaz
Night skiing in Portes du Soleil takes place on beautiful night ski piste in three resorts of the ski region. Two of the night ski areas can be found on the Swiss side of the ski area and one in France. From Avoriaz you have direct access to the pistes in Châtel, Morgins and Champéry, and thus also to skiing fun by night. At the edge of Châtel, the red piste is illuminated for skiing in the area Stadion Linga every Tursday. A few mountains and lifts away, in the Morgins area, another night ski piste is open for extended skiing fun. The Domaine de la Foileuse has a length of approx. 2 km and is accessible by a 3-person chairlift.The third option for night skiing can be found in Champéry in Switzerland. Twice per week, a 2.5 km piste in the Les Crosets area is illuminated for night skiing. Two lifts take guests to the night ski piste.
Après ski Avoriaz
Avoriaz is the liveliest resort in Portes du Soleil and does not have to hide behind Austria with regards to apres ski in any way! Numerous huts are available already in the ski area and provide a sociable atmosphere and many tasty snacks, such as Tartiflette, and of course hot drinks. Even after the lifts have closed for the day, Avoriaz's bars and discos are full of liveliness and fun! Popular places for night-owls to go are, for instance the pub "le Choucas", the "La Cabane" or the discos "le Festival" and "La Fantastique".A quiet evening can be spent in the cinema or in the many restaurants where you can spoil your taste buds with great Savoyard specialities, such as raclette or fondue. As an alternative to a day on the piste, Avoriaz has quite a selection of offers available to pass the time: from speed flying, sky diving or skidoo tours, via more "cosy" activities, such as tobogganing, ice skating or horse-drawn sleigh rides, even Segway tours.
Further you will find the activity water park "AQUARIAZ" spaced out over 2,400 m². Various pools, jacuzzi, a half-pipe slide and a small river ensure loads of fun. Avoriaz is surely no place to be bored!
Snowpark: The Stash Avoriaz
In the entire ski area of "Les Portes du Soleil" there are 11 snow parks and 4 boardercross which are located in all different resorts of the regions; 5 parks alone are to be found in Avoriaz. Freestylers will find a real highlight here with the snow park "The Stash", perfectly integrated into the natural surroundings, which comprises obstacles from fallen trees and built of wood, located in the forest of Lindarets. The Burton sponsored park has a number of natural obstacles to try. Tables, jibs, wall rides, kicker and so on - 34 different elements give this park its personal charm. It is the first ecological snow park in Europe with 100% natural obstacles.Closer to the resort there is the snow park "La Chapelle" which is ideal for either beginners or the more experienced riders. With difficulty levels ranging from green and blue to red it provides a great base for practising. The park comprises various kicker lines, rails, and boxes. The snow park "Arare", on the other hand, is better for advanced riders and pros. Besides big kickers, rails, and boxes, you will also find a big Airbag, which offers perfect training conditions. Also, there is a 120 m long super pipe.
The "Burton Kidspark" and the "Lil'Stash" park are especially designed for the little ones, where they can run riot on small obstacles. Children can take their very first steps starting at the age of 3 years in the "Riglet Park" in the children's world.
