Ski area Via Lattea
The cross-border ski area can convince with an abundance of pistes for all levels of ability. 96 km of blue pistes and a large number of ski schools make it easy for beginners and children to get on skis or snowboards. Special children's fun parks also playfully bring the little skiers closer to winter sports. For the more demanding skiers there are an incredible 220 red piste kilometres available and for adrenaline junkies there are 84 challenging black downhill kilometres on top.
The varied ski area also offers picturesque routes through fir and larch forests, as well as adventurous deep-snow and freeride slopes. Surely the ultimate skiing experience offered here is heliskiing.
The Italian flair doesn't stop at the ski area either and so you can enjoy a glass of wine and traditional dishes in the various restaurants on the mountain.
Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy
To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.

However, the Italians can also prove themselves otherwise, with après ski in discotheques and bars. Also not to be missed is the "El Rouet" in Cesana, where over 1,000 different types of beer from all over the world are available.
The surrounding villages of Cesana Torinese offer all kinds of activities to enjoy an active winter holiday away from the pistes. These include ice skating, curling, snowshoeing and dog sledding. Even when the weather is warm, you can spend the day with your family: There is a swimming pool, an indoor golf course and cinemas.
If you want to combine a skiing holiday with a little culture and a small city break, a trip to Turin is worthwhile. After only 1.5 hours by car, you reach this often underestimated historical city. In Turin, one experiences a typical Italian flair: enjoy a cappuccino in the Piazza San Carlo and then stroll along the adjacent shopping mile Via Roma to the Palazzo Reale - the Royal Palace. If you want to experience a fascinating view, then the Mole Antonelliana is the right place for you. At a height of 85 m, you not only have a fabulous view of the enchanting city, but also of the snow-covered Alps. The city and its region also have a special feature for gourmets: the white truffle (tartufo bianco).
Snowpark: Snowpark Cesana Torinese
Freestyle fans are also catered for in the Via Lattea ski region. There are several snowparks, funparks and boardercross tracks in the different ski areas. The largest are in Sestiere, Sauze d'Oulx, Sansicario and Montgenèvre.
The Sestiere Snowpark opens up 300 m of freestyle possibilities with different levels of difficulty. For beginners there is an extra area where they can safely make their first small jumps. The versatile offer consists of jumps of different sizes, boxes, rails, jib possibilities and slopestyle lines. In addition, the park has two lifts, which make it easy and comfortable for freestylers to access the snowpark.
The "Double Black Park" in Sauze d'Oulx was built in 2006 for the Olympic Winter Games. The snowpark has jumps, kickers, rails and a quarterpipe and is very popular with snowboarders.
Also in the French Montgenèvre snowboarders and freestylers don't go empty-handed. The Montgenèvre Snowpark (2,455 m) has a length of 500 m including boxes, kickers and two lines and is also suitable for beginners.
At an altitude of 1,700 m in Sansicario you can even find a baby fun park. Here even the youngest can practice with a lot of fun like the older ones with the help of inflatable structures.
