Ski area Madesimo

The Madesimo ski area has around 60 kilometres of pistes and 12 lifts and is one of the smaller ski areas in Italy. Surrounded by majestic three-thousand metre mountains, the ski resort is considered to be particularly snow-sure thanks to its snow-making facilities and an altitude of over 1,550 metres. Madesimo is not only suitable for beginners, advanced and professional skiers will also get their money's worth here. Madesimo is home to what is probably the riskiest descent in northern Italy - the "Canalone". With an average gradient of 36 per cent, it is definitely just the thing for thrill-seekers and ambitious skiers. Snowboarders can also put their skills to the test here in two different snow parks. Starting from the summit of the Groppera (2,948 m), a steep, unprepared piste also leads down into the valley. In relative terms, however, the ski area is rather quiet and largely untouched by mass tourism. So everyone can find their dose of relaxation and fun here - just the way they need it!

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To use the ski areas, you must have valid liability insurance that covers damage or injury to third parties. This can also be taken out on site for individual days. Skiing while intoxicated (0.5 per mille or higher BAC) is prohibited and is punishable by heavy fines. To reduce the risk of injury, wearing a helmet is compulsory for everyone (regardless of age, on all ski runs, in snow parks and on toboggan runs). Anyone who does not comply with the helmet requirement will be fined or banned from the slopes.

Snowpark Madesimo: Snowpark Mottolino, Livigno Park 3000

The Livigno ski area is very popular with ambitious winter sports enthusiasts, because here you are greeted by absolute snow reliability at an altitude of up to 2,900 metres. Of course, freeriders and freestylers also get their money's worth and can "powder" and "shred" for all they're worth. A total of two different snow parks offer high-altitude fun of the latest standard. Starting with the "Snowpark Mottolino", where four lines and a jibbing area invite you to give free rein to your creativity, every risk level can be reached. While the absolute beginners among you can take their first steps in the "S-Line", the majority of the "young and wild" are more likely to spend time in the "M-Line", which awaits you with new rails, boxes and jumps. If you have been active in the scene for a while and consider yourself a pro, the "L/XL-Line" will be your new home, because everything from spectacular jumps to photo shoots and events is on offer here. The jibbing area and a neighbouring boardercross course also provide enough space for a test of strength on a smaller scale. The "Livigno Park" has a similar structure, with only a few differences. For example, an air bag in the centre of the park reduces the risk of accidents and motivating music will get you going at full speed.
