Ski holidays Valdaora - wintry idyll at Plan de Corones
Valdaora
Valdaora is situated at 1,080 m in the heart of Val Pusteria and is composed of the Oberolang, Mitterolang, Niederolang and Geiselsberg districts. The picturesque village at the foot of Plan de Corones is nestled between Alps and Dolomites: surrounded by the impressive Prags Dolomites to the south and the Riesenferner Massif in the north, a fascinating panorama awaits. From Geiselsberg you have direct access to the ski area. A free ski bus runs every 20 minutes from all districts to the valley station Gassl at Geiselsberg in winter.Modern lift systems, short waiting times, very well prepared pistes and gorgeous views make this ski area one of the loveliest in the Dolomites. Tobogganing fans will also know the name, as the tobogganing world championships were held here for the second time in 2000! Moreover, numerous leisure activities are available, the different restaurants and lodges invite you in for refreshment and you will certainly find just the right souvenir in the shops.
Plan de Corones
At the foot of the Plan de Corones (2,275 m), in the centre of the picturesque Val Pusteria, are 14 diverse and attractive South Tyrolean villages. Modern gondolas start from various stations and speed up to the peak, from which imposing 360-degree views unfold. Diverse sporting events take place here on a regular basis, e.g. the Val Pusteria ski marathons including the Valle di Casies run, the biggest sporting event in South Tyrol. 120 kilometres of piste, approx. 32 modern lifts, a half-pipe, as well as ample recreational and sporting opportunities and lively après ski ensure a good deal off piste! This ski area is also great for families, thanks to numerous facilities such as the "Croniworld".Travel Valdaora
