Ski area Rosskopf

Rosskopf is the sun-spoiled local mountain in Sterzing, which is approx. 15 km away from Ridanna. With the 6-person gondola you can easily get into the ski area that spreads over an altitude of 948 m - 2,120 m and offers a wonderful panoramic view all the way to the Dolomites. Two chairlifts and a magic carpet transport you and little skiers to the pistes below Rosskopf (2,189 m) where a total of 20 km of piste await you.

The ski area with its mainly easy and medium pistes is especially popular with wallowers. Most of the slopes are below the tree line and they are mostly still wonderfully broad. The children's ski school was awarded the Gold quality seal and is appreciated by families. With its 9,6 km, Italy's longest toboggan run that can be covered with artificial snow also runs through the ski area. It starts at the inn below the 3 person chairlift and leads to the gondola's valley station.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.

Après ski Ridanna

Après ski in Ridanna and the surrounding areas is rather cosy. At the Rosskopf gondola's valley station, the Biwak-Bar invites you for a nightcap after skiing. Ridanna itself is rather quiet and peaceful. Nevertheless, many activities aside from skiing are on offer, so you will not get bored in the afternoon or early evening. The tourist mine Schneeberg is worth a visit especially when travelling with children. Here you will learn more about the region's 800 year history of silver, lead and zinc mining.

For a fun afternoon on the sleigh you can choose between two natural toboggan runs in the area. One can be found at Stadlalm and is 1,5 km long, the other one is at Zunderspitzhütte and is 6.4 km long. Another toboggan run can be found in the Rosskopf ski area. With its 9,6 km it is Italy's longest toboggan run that can be covered with artificial snow. It is also illuminated twice per week.

Below Rosskopf you can find several winter hiking trails for hikers and snow shoe hikers. If you want to take it slowly and enjoy the quiet, you can explore the area during an extensive horse drawn carriage ride or a horse back ride through Ridanna Valley.

Snowpark: Funpark Ridanna

In the ski area Rosskopf there is unfortunately no snowpard. But only few kilometres away you will fing the ski area Racines-Jaufen, where the funpark Racines attracts everyone looking to shred. The area is located next to the 4-person chairlift Enzian and is a highlight in the ski area. The TÜV-certified obstacles where created by the renowned QParks team, and are a set-up for all levels off skills. A total of 17 different elements await beginners and professionals alike.
