Ski area Oeschinensee & Sunnbüel
Ski area Oeschinensee & Sunnbüel
In Kandersteg in the Kandertal, two ski areas are available to choose from: Oeschinensee and Sunnbüel. Both ski areas are quite manageable and provide panoramic pistes as well as attractive offers for children.
In Oeschinensee, the panoramic gondola takes you up directly from Kandersteg to the just under 1,700 m high ski area. The littler skiers will find the "Oeschiland" children's area here the perfect place to let off steam, and the toboggan run allows for a speedy ride back down into the valley. Treat yourself to a culinary speciality in the Berghotel and take in the gorgeous view while you're at it.
In the somewhat smaller ski area Sunnbüel, skiers will ride down along the slopes while passing by touring skiers and winter hikers, whose paradise is here at the just under 2,000 m high ski area. This ski area also offers the perfect conditions for families with easy to intermediate pistes and family-friendly mountain restaurants.
Along the two marked snowshoe hiking trails, you can discover the enchanting winter landscape of Sunnbüel. Snowshoes can be rented from the mountain lift station. Furthermore, the winter hiking trail "Gemmi" gives you the chance to make your way through the high-alpine powder snow and afterwards, warm up and wind down in the mountain restaurant. The trail begins at the mountain station of the Sunnbüel lift and takes you on an approx. 3 hour hike up to the Gemmipass at 2,322 m altitude. Spectacular views and crystal clear air are included!

Après ski Kandersteg
For a cosier après ski, several places can be checked out in Kandersteg: you could either stop in to one of the rustic mountain restaurants or enjoy the local aperitif, the Swiss Apéro, in the "Taverne" or on the terrace of the "Rendez-Vous." A search for a typical après ski bar here will be in vain, however; this resort provides a moderate and recuperative atmosphere. Coming back to the restaurants, though, the Swiss Apéro will most likely take your fancy, being the perfect way to begin enjoying the local cuisine.Snowpark: Snowpark Kandersteg
Unfortunately, a snow park is not provided in this ski area. The spectacular snow parks of Switzerland can be found in Laax, Saas-Fee and Davos. Is the Oeschinensee & Sunnbüel ski area not right for you? Then have a look here instead: Ski areas Switzerland
