Ski area Presolana-Monte Pora

The lift pass "Presolana-Monte Pora" gives you access to approx. 28 km of piste on two skiing mountains. The pistes stretch over altitudes of 1,200 m - 1,880 m. The ski area Presolana is located at Donico mountain (1,200 m), directly above Castione. The valley area is characterised by an open alpine pasture with a broad skiing slope, the upper part of the piste is located on partly forested slopes. At Donico you will find six lifts and approx. 7 km of piste, 4 km of which are marked blue and 3 km of which are marked red.

The larger part of the ski area with diverse pistes can be found at Monte Pora (1,880 m). The pistes in this ski area reach up to an altitude ot 1,900 m with a good guarantee for snow in a woodless area. Here can choose from nine lifts and 21 km of piste: 5 km are marked blue, 12 km red and 4 km are marked black. At Monte Pora, different levels of difficulty await experienced skiers, and there are mainly red panoramic pistes as well as a variant piste in the Vareno area. Freestylers will find a snowpark at the red piste No 25 that can also be covered with artificial snow. Two professional ski schools are available for young skiers.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.

Après ski Castione della Presolana

For classic après ski, there are two recommendable mountain huts: the "Vareno Bar" at the Colle-Vareno chairlift offers special services such as e.g. a "happy hour" with reduced prices as well as Wi-Fi for the guests. At "Baita Terme" at the 4-person "Malga Pora" chairlift's mountain station you can combine a good party with cosy mountain hut atmosphere. Here you will find a beautiful sun terrace, a Wi-Fi area as well as a charging station for smartphones. On Fridays the location is also open for night skiers.

Apart from that, the hilly landscape surrounding Castione is perfect for snow shoe hikes and touring ski trips. In Seriana valley you will find several gorgeous routes through dense pine forests. One of the snow shoe hiking trails runs along the ski pistes at Monte Pora in Vareno. Other action-filled sports like snow mobile rides are also available at Monte Pora.

In the evening, several restaurants offer regional delicacies of the famous Italian cuisine, such as for example delicious polenta and good Bergamo wine. For further entertainment, the district Dorga offers a small movie theatre, the "Cinema Presolana Dorga" that shows national features as well as Hollywood films.

Snowpark: Pora Park Castione della Presolana

The diverse ski area Presolana-Monte Pora also has a treat for freestylers: At Mnte Pora on an alitude of 1,600 m you can find the "Pora Park", a widespread freestyle area with almost a dozen obstacles. Rails, boxes and kickers for beginners and more experienced boarders spread over a line of approx. 180 m. Once per week the park is illuminated from 19:30 - 23:00. Music plays during the day in order to get you into the right flow.
