Ski area Gitschberg Jochtal-Brixen

The lift pass "Gitschberg Jochtal-Brixen" allows skiing fun and diversity on a total of 98 km of piste in Bressanone-Plose and Gitschberg-Jochtal. You can explore the multi-faceted ski area (948 - 2,510 m) by means of 25 lift systems.

Rio di Pusteria (772 m) is located close the Gitschberg-Jochtal ski area where you can discover approx. 55 km of piste with 16 lifts. The lift connection comprises the ski areas at Gitschberg (2,510 m) above Maranza and Jochtal (up to 2,100 m) nearby Valles. Both are easily reached from Rio di Pusteria by the local gondola or connective mountain railway, respectively. At first it goes up to Maranza where you can find the access to the ski area at Gitschberg. Children and beginners can look forward to mellow practise slopes, while several red and black pistes await more experienced skiers. Atop the sunny peak of Gitsch mountain is one of the three observation decks which offer a great surrounding view over 500 peaks from the Dolomites to the Zilllertal, Stubai and Oetz Valley Alps. The other two observation decks can be found at Steinermandl and Astjoch, and are no less spectacular.

By the connection of the Gaisjoch and Schilling lifts you can get to Valles, where Hinterberg and the family-friendly Joch Valley await you. There are a total of approx. 22 km of pistes and seven lift systems, including beginner-friendly pistes, but also several red and some black ones. With an inclination of 38 degree, the Mitterling slope is very steep and thus only suitable for very experienced skiers. For an easy decent, valley runs are available down to both Maranza and Valles. The pistes are very diverse in both parts of the ski area, and they are also wonderfully broad and easily assessable. Various childrens' areas are available for the little ones, Maranza also offers a flood-lit piste for classic night skiing, and snowboarders can enjoy the funpark in Valles - an overall well-made and family-friendly ski area!

The upgrade to the "Dolomiti Superski" lift pass additionally provides you with the opportunity to ski in 12 ski areas along a total of approx. 1,200 km of piste (see ski region).

Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.

Après ski Rio di Pusteria

After a day on the pistes, winter sports fans can choose from various après ski bars both on the alpine pastures in the ski areas as well as at the valley stations in Maranza and Valles. Enjoy the end of the day with classic après ski hits and occasional live music! In Rio di Pusteria, you can dance until late at night in the local "Testarossa Club". Alternatively the disco "Max" invites to party a little longer in nearby Bressanone.

If you prefer having one for the road and then going on to the cosy of sporty part of the evening, Mühlbach will give you all sorts of opportunities. A relaxed afternoon in the café on the town square, a few founds on the ice rink or hiking on the surrounding hills make for great alternatives. The high valley has a high snow security, and you can find winter hiking paths and wonderful routes for snow shoe hikes nearly everywhere. Eight toboggan runs in the ski area provide for toboggan fun e.g. on the 3 km run at the popular Fane-Alm at the end of the valley nearby Valles. In bad weather, the adventure pool "AlpinPool" in Maranza is worth a visit.
